Currently if you open an office for the COO and hire a COO you will get a list of their expertise in their office:

However the same does not apply for your own CEO character, despite the effects being similar:

This might mean that the headquarters window might need to be a bit larger, or the expertise list a bit smaller in order to add room for the acquire tech buttons and the salary slider. Or maybe some creative interface changes like having the set salary as a single button that brings up a slider.
Either way I think being able to glance at your own expertise at the headquarters would be a convenient interface improvement.
If not then perhaps just adding a button called 'Expertise' might do the trick as it could then just jump to the expertise window for the CEO.
