I would say I'm a fairly long time Cap2 player from years ago who is very very enthuiastic about the new CapLab game. I purchased the beta over the weekend and have been enjoying it very very much. A few simple ideas I think that would help the game have a broader appeal and more indepth game play.
1) We need more than 7 cities... You can have 20-30 competitors, but they are all jam packed into 7 cities. I feel this is a little bit lacking. Also, I wish we would not be given random cities but we could choose which cities we want in our world.
2) Real Estate Investing: This area is slightly unrealistic IMO. In order to buy/build a property you have to pay essentially cash for the property. You can borrow from the credit line and pay for it, but esentially there is no such thing as a mortgage, evertying is payed in cash. Also, I think the ROI's for property owners is a little on the small side especially for the commercial properties. In my short experience the ROI from income minus espenses is too low - but the buildings appreciate in value to quickly. If borrow money off the credit line right now, it's almost impossible to justify building a property b/c the positive cash flow doesn't even cover your debt expense - you have to rely on the property appreciating. Which brings me to my final note that I wasn't succesful at being able to sell any of my property.
3) I would love to be a developer! Buy natural resources and build communities and commercial projects. This would not only be a great business venture, but it would be a way to see cities grow and develop.
