Cheating product re-invention when merging with subsidiary whose CEO has expertise

Post by Pietro »

Hi !

I hope it's the proper place to report, in the game, when using the survival mode from the city simulation DLC and the subsidiary DLC, it is possible to have a setting with "product re-invention" active, this means when starting a new game the player character has a randomized expertise field and knows how to make the products from that field, and foods products. Only.

If the player wants to expand in other field, one has to use R&D centers to discover the product, or buy a tech to someone who knows how to make the other products.

However, it is possible to also create a subsidiary company, for 1 day, and choosing a CEO that happens to have the desired expertise. Then immediatly merging with this subsidiary will provide the parent company with the technology required to make the products from that temporary CEO's expertise.

Since this can be done when time is paused, all in1 day, no money is spent on salary, the only difference before and after the merge is that the parent company suddenly knows all the products from a new field. This can be repeated to "re-invent" all the products at no cost, which makes it much easier to provide for the "goods supply" necessary to grow cities.

It sounds like a cheat or an exploit, a suggestion to fix this maybe could be that the player has to pay an upfront cost to the CEO as personnal cash, when hiring a CEO that provide technology to its subsidiary. If you hire an automobile person as CEO for a subsidiary, you pay that person 6 million in personnal cash during the hiring, if the technology "car 30" cost 6 million. If the CEO "unlock" more than 1 product, the cost account for the cumulated value of those techs , as if the player was to acquire them using the headquarter. In personnal cash so that the money is not recovered by the parent company when merging.
