Feature Preview: Run a Group of Companies — and Head Them All Yourself

Post by David »

New Feature: Run a Group of Companies — and Head Them All Yourself
Requires the Billionaire Life DLC

Your person has always been able to be the CEO of exactly one company. With the Billionaire Life DLC you can own a whole group of companies and hold the CEO chair of several of them at the same time — the Elon-Musk-style empire. You are chairman of everything you own, you run one company hands-on, and you personally head as many of the others as you like.

Switch it on at New Game → Billionaire Life DLC → Career → "CEO of Multiple Companies". It is set to Yes by default whenever the DLC is enabled, so it is probably already on.

What you can do
  • Get control of a company — own 75% or more of it, either through Set Up a New Subsidiary Company or by buying its shares on the Stock Exchange.
  • Open that company's Corporate Details page and click Appoint Myself CEO. You are now its chairman and its CEO.

  • Do it again on the next company. Nothing caps how many CEO seats you hold at once.
  • Changed your mind? Resign as CEO on the same page finds and installs a hired executive automatically — and you keep every share you own.

Why bother
  • Your skill runs the company. It is managed with your own (usually high) executive skill instead of a hired CEO's.
  • No CEO salary. The company stops paying for an executive it no longer needs.
  • The empire is visibly yours — chairman and CEO, top to bottom.
Who's who in your empire

Code: Select all

Role What it means
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chairman (owner) You, automatically, on every company you control
Main company The one company you run hands-on - build its firms,
set its prices, manage it directly
Subsidiary A company you control (75%+) that otherwise runs itself
CEO The person heading a company - with this option on,
that can be you, on several companies at once
There is a second way to grow the group, too: Financial Actions → Set Up a New Company is available even while you already own a company once this option is on. You fund it out of your personal cash, you own 100% of it, and you start as its chairman and CEO.

Amazing addition to the game! Just to be clear: the player needs 75% direct or indirect ownership to appoint themselves as CEO. But after that shares can be disposed while still remaining CEO and chairman? Until AI acquire 50% of ownership, which makes them chairman, while player is left to be employed CEO?

If so, wouldn’t it make more sense for the player to need 50% instead of 75% as well?

I loved it, it was everything I ever wanted.

I have a few questions:
  • Being CEO of all the companies was everything I ever wanted. However, I always hire a COO to manage pricing. Will we still have that possibility?

  • Can we hire a COO for each company, or will only one manage all the companies?

That's correct. It is mostly for gameplay balance for requiring 75% ownership.

Yes, you can hire a COO for each company where you are the CEO.
