We should have a pause indicator, that is, something more noticeable than "the absence of traffic", and more than the sidebar speedometer which disappears when you open any windows.
I might suggest slowly alternating "Paused" and then the date, where the current date is. I would use Yellow on Black.
I hope this request is self-evident. Nonetheless, I submit that sometimes when I'm running at speed 1 staring at the date waiting for it to change, I start wondering if the game's really at speed 1, or if it's paused. ANd of course, then you close your windows and popout the tool bar to check if it's at speed zero just as the date does change, and you now have to reopen your windows.
