Improvements to Stock Market/Subsidiaries
Instead of having the Corporation becoming a subsidiary once you own 51% of the shares, you should have it so once you own 51% of shares you have a option to make it a subsidiary just like the merger function but it will give you control to fire and hire all headquarters staffing. with total control of Dividend functions and issuing shares making it so the CEO has no control over it and when the company has financing issues it will pause the game just like it does with the parent corporation giving you total control to fix the matter including closing down firms.

and AI should be more involved in the stock market. usually in my games it is a rare occasion when the AI buy shares (AI that does not own a corporation). if the AI will be more involved and will be vulnerable to speculations and trends in the stock market, it will make the stock market to be much more interesting (viva la technical analysis).
Re: Improvements to Stock Market/Subsidiaries
I think non-company owner persons just don't have enough capital to have an impact with stocks, since they can't raise capital high enough like CEOs who own investment companies.
In my games, AIs do buy stocks a lot. It's more about the over all environment. I always set max AIs, give them very high starting capital, and I allow AI merger. At the same time my own company constantly merge other companies, thus creating more "former CEO" AIs with lots of cash. And I often just sold out businesses that are not profitable enough, hence there are always room for new entrepreneurs to make money. Also very aggressive AIs setting tend to spent their cash as much as possible.
Although, I do feel, the general problems is that AI is too rational with stocks. Real life investors don't act so formulated. And the anonymous mass each buys a small amount of stocks, should have greater impact to the capital market as a whole. Right now the faceless mass with white stocks is more or less just random fluctuation number generator. In order to simulate complex and chaos behaviors, we might need more than dozens of AIs, but probably thousands of background "silent agents" trading. And they need to be able to sometimes act irrationally. Without financial institute mechanisms, right now the in game capital market is just like a fancy ATM.

Re: Improvements to Stock Market/Subsidiaries
Donnu. In my game non-corporation AI have tons of money. some of them owns more money than most corporations in the game. And if will count that potential capital in the stock market there's no doubt they are the real players, at least till your own corp have tons of money
yeah, no doubt the stock market function in the game is lacking some flavour to make it a real fun.
I wonder david, if it's worthwhile to actually write some functions to the stock market with equations and ideas without really understanding how the game code really looks like.....

The non-owner AIs play with stock market from the beginning simply because it's the only way to spend cash other than build masons. Since they invest early, some of them bound to be lucky, end up with more stocks and wealth on paper.tosh wrote:Donnu. Corporate owned stocks won't show up in personal wealth, and AI owners love to issue shares from the beginning, hence even if a company owns lots of stocks, its owner's personal wealth is just a small portion of it. The rest is "owned" by the nameless mass of white stocks who suppose to represent general investors.
As long as they can be expressed as algorithm.tosh wrote: I wonder david, if it's worthwhile to actually write some functions to the stock market with equations and ideas without really understanding how the game code really looks like.....

I think that it should be that once you own 51% of a company you should be able to purchase their technology for market price.
