Here is an explanation from GPT4 about rating points vs market share for newspaper publishers:
Is it correct to use "rating points" for newspaper publishers?
You are correct that the term **"rating points"** is traditionally associated with TV and radio, where it measures the percentage of a potential audience reached by a broadcast. This concept is deeply embedded in broadcast media because of its focus on audience reach at specific times.
For newspaper publishers, using **"rating points"** may not be entirely appropriate in the traditional sense since newspapers are consumed differently compared to the real-time nature of TV or radio. However, the concept could potentially be adapted for newspapers in a broader, more figurative way. For example, it could represent the percentage of a total potential readership that engages with a newspaper over a set period (e.g., daily, weekly, or monthly).
Why "Rating Points" May Not Be Ideal for Newspapers:
1. Medium-Specific Origins: Rating points were designed for broadcast media and rely on time-based engagement (e.g., a specific program airing during a specific time slot). Newspapers don’t operate on the same temporal framework.
2. Audience Behavior: Newspaper readership is more flexible—people consume content at different times and in different ways (e.g., print vs. digital)—making it harder to apply the same audience measurement framework.
3. Existing Alternatives: Newspapers already have well-established audience metrics, such as **circulation figures**, **unique readers**, **impressions**, and **market share**, which are more straightforward and commonly used in the industry.
Could "Rating Points" Be Adapted for Newspapers?
Technically, yes, but it would need to be carefully redefined. For example:
- Digital Newspapers: Rating points could measure the percentage of a target audience that visits a newspaper’s website or app over a specific time period.
- Print Newspapers: It could represent the proportion of readers in a geographical area who engage with the newspaper regularly.
However, adopting the term might cause confusion since it’s not standard for newspapers and doesn’t align perfectly with how newspapers are consumed.
Conclusion:
While the **concept** of "rating points" could theoretically be adapted for newspapers, the term is not traditionally used in this industry and could lead to misinterpretation. **Market share**, **reach**, or other established metrics are more appropriate and familiar to both advertisers and stakeholders when discussing newspaper audiences. If you want to measure audience size or engagement, it’s better to use terms already recognized in the publishing industry.

In Product Details, pressing Enter to go to the selling firm opens the firm in decription editing mod. That only happens when the firm it relates to was the previously selected.
Macro Economy Realism was Off. I could obtain the correct numbers only by setting inflation to Inverse. When set to either Off or On, it seems to be mixed.

I tested it with Macro Economy Realism disabled but didn't encounter the issue. I looked at the TV station's income statement and its monthly expense was only in the range of $1 to $2 million. Could you please provide your save game for debugging?
