First of all, I want to express my admiration for how Capitalism has evolved compared to the two original historic versions.
The depth brought by the different DLC launched at date, and especially the City Economic Simulation module is the one i like the most.
The dev team has built something truly remarkable, and the community's input has clearly shaped a richer and more realistic economic simulator over the years. I really want to thank you for that.
I had some ideas when playing all this different DLC's and using my experience and love for some other games such as Football manager , i thought that some cross-ideas from those different type of game could be a way to more depth in urban economy simulation.
I'm a french speaking player and i've try to put this in a way that would be easily readable and understandable for all.
DLC Concept: Entertainment Industry
I would like to propose a new DLC focused on the Entertainment Industry, which I believe would naturally complement existing DLCs , particularly Digital Age and City Economic Simulation while opening entirely new economic dimensions.
Core Infrastructure : What You Can Build or Acquire
Players would be able to construct or acquire the following venues:
Cinema Multiplex; screens films, generates foot traffic and concession revenue
Theater / Concert Hall: live performances, seasonal revenue spikes
Sports Stadiums, Arenas (upgrade with training Facilities : improves team performance and attractiveness for star players) : Football/Soccer, Basketball, Tennis Courts, Golf Courses.
Each venue would have capacity tiers (small, mid-size, large, Olympique stadium) affecting revenue, brand visibility, and local microeconomic impact.
Sports Team Management
The DLC would allow players to create or acquire a local sports franchise in one of the available disciplines:
Football / Soccer, Basketball, Tennis, Golf (facilities that are already available in the game and that can be build with a limitation per city inhabitant size).
Some mechanics that an be apply:
Sign a Superstar Player, a high-cost but high-impact option that boosts team performance, fan attendance, and brand sponsorship value..
Team Championship Bonus, winning a local, continental, or world championship generates a measurable brand prestige boost for all sponsoring brands
Salary Cap & Transfer Market, manage team salary cap to boost your chance of winning a championship, competing with AI-controlled teams.
Sponsorship & Brand Prestige System ( the economic engine of the DLC) :
Brand Sponsorship, any company product can sponsor a team, a stadium, or a competition, generating brand exposure proportional to audience size
Tiered Sponsorship Events:
Local League / City Championship (low cost, moderate return)
Continental Competition (mid-tier, strong brand lift)
Olympic Games (premium, every 4 years in-game, highest prestige)
Football / Soccer World Cup, Basketball World Cup , Tennis Grand Slam , Golf Major
A Patron of the Year Ranking updated every 4 in-game years, recognizing the top investor in entertainment with a direct multiplier on brand loyalty and premium pricing power
Microeconomic Ripple Effects
A live event doesn't just fill a stadium, it feeds a local economy:
Increased demand for fast food chains, snack bars, ice cream vendors, and beverage brands on event days or during champioship season.
Fastfood restaurant near stadiums see a sales spike tied to attendance figures.
These effects integrate naturally with the City Economic Simulation DLC, boosting local commercial real estate values near stadiums..
Media & Broadcasting Rights (synergy with Digital Age DLC)
Leveraging the existing Digital Age framework: Players can bid for exclusive broadcasting rights to a local, continental, or world competition
Rights can be monetized through:
Subscription streaming platform (tied to Digital Age DLC)
Pay-per-view events
Advertising slots during live broadcasts
Exclusive rights create a virtuous cycle: more viewers = higher ad revenue = higher brand value = more sponsorship leverage
Prestige & Long-Term Impact Summary
Feature In-Game Effect
Superstar signing = Team win rate ↑, attendance ↑, brand exposure ↑
Championship win = Brand prestige multiplier for all sponsors
Olympic/World Cup sponsorship Maximum prestige event, 4-year cycle
Exclusive broadcast rights Recurring revenue + brand visibility
Stadium near food outlets Local food industry revenue spike
Patron Ranking (Top Mécène) = Brand loyalty bonus + pricing power
Cross-DLC Compatibility
This DLC would synergize with:
Digital Age DLC : streaming and broadcasting rights
City Economic Simulation DLC : stadium impact on city land value and consumption
Service Industry DLC: concession stands, restaurants, hospitality inside venues
Banking & Finance DLC: Team acquisition financing, bond issuance for stadium construction , rent from cities...
I believe this DLC would bring a genuinely new layer of economic strategy, emotional engagement (sports!), and brand management depth .
I know that they are many other exciting ideas that are in pipelines and also all these may bring some other big challenges for the dev first but anyway i would love to hear what the community and the dev team think.

Re: Entertainment Industry & cross-DLC compatibility
These are very interesting ideas! I've forwarded them to the dev team.
Re: Entertainment Industry & cross-DLC compatibility
Thank you David for considering these ideas that I've tried to structure and make digestible. I know it may seem like turning towards a SimCity or SimLife type of game, but I genuinely feel that if we manage to implement some of these ideas in the so called Entertainment Industry DLC, it will add much more depth to the game's engagement and immersion in role as a CEO who also wants to diversify into the entertainment industry while impacting the local economy and the image of his brand(s) that will compete for sponsorship opportunities...
In any case, I'm very excited to provide more details to my thinking, and I'm well aware that from a development standpoint, this could also be quite a Herculean task.

Re: Entertainment Industry & cross-DLC compatibility
Thanks for the follow-up. I would recommend creating a poll for your suggestion to gauge community interest. There would be a higher chance that the dev team will implement it if the interest level is high.
You can see examples of polls in the Suggestions forum:
