2.2.0.0 No Video

Post by Esoteric Rogue »

Hi, I just get a black screen when launching 2.2.0.0. The audio music does play, and I was able to hear that I blindly clicked something once, so it seems I simply have no video. I know that my monitor switch to my normal fullscreen resolution of 1024x768 @85, so I don't have any guess.

I re-downloaded and re-applied. No good.

I deleted FULLSCR.SYS. No good.

I deleted CONFIG.DAT. No good.

I was able to force it to 60hz. No good.

I copied over the release version's CONFIG.DAT. No good.

That's all I could think of. I'm on XP64.

1) There is a new option “run Capitalism Lab in 1024x768” on the launcher.

You may enable it and see if it will run normally.

-------------

2) were you able to run CapLab v2.1.02 before?

-------------

3) If the above solution 1) does not work, try putting WINMODE.SYS (a dummy file) in your CapLab folder.

-------------

4) If both solution 1) and 3) do not work, please send me your CONFIG.DAT for investigation.

1) No change
2) Yes, I believe so since I still have the extracted 2102 archive, and I wouldn't have extracted it without proceeding to apply & test it.
3) Same problem, but within a window.

Please try this updated EXE: http://www.capitalismlab.com/capserver/ ... L2200B.rar

(Please delete WINMODE.SYS before running the game.)

-----------------------------------------------------

If it still doesn't work:

1) Could you please delete WinMode.sys and run the game, and then send me the CONFIG.DAT after running the game?

2) Please send me your computer configuration file DxDiag.txt for investigation as well.

That's working now.

But, I first pasted it into the release folder and broke that in the same manner. I did a simple uninstall and reinstall with not luck yet. Can I get a more recent installer than beta1989? Sorry to confuse things.

Okay, thanks. Unfortunately, uninstalling, deleting files, and installing 2.0 didn't fix. (I didn't check for any registry settings). So now my release version is broken. It remained broken after I patched to 2.1.02.

You may try putting FULLSCR.SYS on the release version only and see if it will get it to work.
