Expand the Stock Market please

Post by loldude101 »

Since Cap2 I've always enjoyed playing the stock market, and to be honest, I'm still playing Cap Lab mainly for the stock market feature (I cannot find another similar stock market simulation), I tend to spend the first 5-15 years expanding my manufacturing and R&D business until it runs on auto pilot and after I've amassed considerable capital I retire to the stock market and have fun analyzing trends and company habits to best invest my money. At this point I spend all of my time investing and constantly flipping my cash and playing to lucrative raw materials market (i.e. wait until an AI's mine runs dry and plot a new mine and set a high premium - easy way to profit 50-150M for very little work). But every time I play I'm constantly frustrated with the restraints set on the stock market, I feel it's highly under utilized and wish so many more features would be added to it. The simple buy low sell high strategy get's old really fast especially when you're watching the markets crash and you wish you could short sell. The stock market is called the "greed game" for a reason, so I suggest priority should be given to expanding its features. Also, if you think that adding more stock market options will make players more likely to cheat (i.e. save the game and reload if portfolio loses money or save the game and just watch how the prices change over time) then I suggest implementing a rule where you can trade stocks one or two years after loading a game.

Let me know what you think, I'm interested to learn where the community stands on this topic.

Right now, the game is generally lacking fiscal part of "Capitalism" (from banks, bonds, to futures, everything). Without proper mechanism, it's very difficult to visualize and introduce a more complex and real primary market, let alone secondary market or other crucial financial institutes and systems.
