Hi! I'm new to the forums. But I would like to participate giving a small idea.
Actually, I already read some good ideas on this topic (raw materials).
I know that Capitalism Lab idea originally was more about creating a complete supply line production. However, with new DLCs and improved AI with more behaviors... How about giving the player the ability to focus on a determined plan too?
I mean, the player already can do this in some aspects. Like only stock investing, only retailing, even going on some industries without retail can be profitable, if your enviroment set up allow this.
But the problem comes when Raw Material industry takes place...
I could managed to handle a game with Raw Industry being profitable, but with some issues. I'll try to enumerate some:
1) The only demand of raw materials are other companies.
This makes sense. But the game actually have 'local competitors' mechanic. This works to generate competition and provide a supply of retail products. But from where did they come? Maybe making a local demand for raw materials could make the game more versatile.
2) There are the seaports, but they only provide more competition.
If you're planing on going full retail, perfect! In fact, with enough seaports and high quality set up, you can rely only on those for a good time. It's an ideal game start.
Even if you're going to industry, you can get some raw materials from them and start provinding some retail products.
But how about the Raw Materials Industry? Well... they simple dont help in any circunstance.
The ports allow importing raw materials from a non competitor, but not exporting it.
3) The costs
Seriously... they're extremely high. There's absolutly no point in starting your own Raw Material industry (even for your OWN supply chain) if you do not have at least 2 large industries consuming the materials all the time.
The output is very high, the costs to aquire land, the costs to add one room for extraction is over 2milion aaand you still have high costs to maintain it running.
All of that being said, I would appreciate if in a future DLC there are some modifications for the Raw Materials Industry. Maybe providing a demand from city could be enough.
Also, if someone knows a way to better enjoy the game focusing in this kind of industry and have some tips, I would highly appreciate.
I used a script to disallow the ports and put competition with low initial investment, so they can not have enough cash to set up a complete supply chain. The entire idea is to me start a supply chain building up a mine and let the competition buy from it and starting it's factorys. But the AI is not building at all...

If you like focusing on raw materials, why don´t you try to set up a monopoly for one raw product and then tell us about it?fabiomartin wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 1:30 pm Also, if someone knows a way to better enjoy the game focusing in this kind of industry and have some tips, I would highly appreciate.
