Hello fellow CapLabers!
At the suggestion of David, I would like to poll everyone here on a suggestion I have about giving cities the flexibility to invest surplus cash
Situation
Cities often have large sums of surplus cash sitting on their balance sheet with no obvious avenue to spend it
Why is this an issue?
Limited investment options for cities which leads to LOADS of cash piling up on the balance sheet - waste of capital!
Proposal
Give cities the ability to make deposits in bank loans / invest in bonds
Pros
+ Flexibility to different play styles; for those who want to run a financially self sustained city and complement it with low taxes, they will be able to do so.
+ Generate passive income on idle cash flow
+ Risk free way of protecting capital
Cons
- Could be exploited by players to give the player's firms "unlimited" financial resources, most likely to be exploited by firms with low credit rating who cannot get a loan from a bank; counter by putting a floor on the credit worthiness on the bonds the city can invest in.
Would love your thoughts on this!

Sounds Good I actually worked for a government entity that had ~$3 billion in cash and equivalents and they keep $200-$300 million in bank deposits and the rest in the Money Market and Treasuries to earn a return on investment.

Seems like an overwhelming majority of people want cities to be able to invest their cash into deposits or the bond market - very exciting news
Hope the developers will be implementing this

Hi Jason,
I have recommended to the dev team. But ultimately it is their decision on whether and when it will be implemented.
Best,
David

Thank you David, understood.
Question - is 6.2.0 going to include insurance release?

Hi Jason,
The insurance company is a complicated system that takes more time to implement and test (for both bugs and gameplay balance). It will not be available in v6.2.00.

Would you mind sharing a sneakpeak of what's to come in 6.2? Very much looking forward to it, especially with holiday around the corner!
