money supply

Post by alidad »

Hi,

Is there any relationship at the moment between money supply in the game and the amount of money lent by the banks? Also in general how the money supply is being calculated?

Thanks

Hello

There appears to be a positive correlation between the amount of consumption GDP and customer deposits - cities with high levels of consumption GDP will see higher deposits. The changes in customer deposits over time is also correlated to the economic swings (mostly consumer GDP).

I ran tests where I boosted the level of net export GDP and it had no effect on the amount of customer deposit in the city.

Thanks for your reply Jason, the consumption gdp and customer deposits makes sense, the more money they have the more deposits they make and I would expect that money will increase the money supply in the game. Although with different approach I tried to control the loan made out of the only bank to see if I can impact the money supply but did not see noticeable effect, but rather lot more from the economic swings that is internal to the game.

Currently they are not linked. Any suggestions on how they should be linked?

Actually, both are (almost) the same thing in the real world.

Hi colonel_truman,

I will forward your suggestion to the dev team.

So for simplicity, the game should just display the Money Supply indicator and get rid of the Money Demand indicator, right?

Happy New Year!

Now, I´m puzzled. I have no idea what I was thinking of when I wrote that.
Obviously, demand is always higher.
My apology. I´ll try to come back to this (at least for my own sake).
