Better Subsidiary Management and AI CEO Ideas & Concerns

Post by Traveo »

One thing that I find a bit tedious is there isn't more select all type options for managing subsidiaries

For example, if I want to set up a Real Estate Only company, and move all of my RE properties over to that subsidiary, I have to manually move them, if there were an ability to move/sell firms by category, or production class if would be very helpful.

Also, I have noticed that the game does not EVER seem to generate Real Estate, Media, Production, Research or other specialized companies aside from 2 or 3 Investment focused firms. And the area specialization of the AI CEOs doesn't seem to influence the types of production or retail focus of the AI, so that AI CEO with an automotive focus will get into food and beverages, but not auto manufacture and sale.

When I do set a CEO's focus to Real Estate the AI focused on buying land, had a tendency to sell Apartments and Commercial buildings and doesn't seem to consider any density factors that might increase the building value or rental income in the local economy.

When I set a CEO focus to Media, the firm isn't aggressive at buying or opening up traditional media outlets (I usually have to buy and transfer those firms to it), it doesn't consider media focused internet firms as a viable purchase or build options.

A research-focused company or at least one who will sell research (even at exorbitant fees) would be appreciated. Diversified companies are the only ones that focus on research, and they are never willing to sell research at any price point.

I posted this in the BANKING DLC section since that is what I am currently using, but these may apply to other DLC or the base game.

For this suggestion , there is already a poll. You can go vote and add your ideas on the implémentation.

I tested the latest version and there are AI companies specializing in Real Estate, Media, and Tech. I would recommend that you upgrade to the latest version 6.2.02 if you are using an older version.

Hi David,

I am also using 6.2.02 which is why I brought this up. But I can take another look. Tech/Software focused firms are opened, but no specialized firms are opened that meet the criteria of under the firm specialization headings in the stock market.
The issue is not that AI's won't open varied firms, its that they don't seem to specialize very well.

When you test, are you doing anything special in your set-up? I tend to set up specialized playthroughs, with 40 firms, 10% private, and 3 subfirms. I don't limit any products classes, and I do (typically) use the Real World Mod (although I encounter the same issue when playing vanilla).

I included some screenshots of where I am referring in the attachments.

On the New Game Settings menu's Competitors page, please set the "Competitors Start-Up Capital" setting to High or Very High, and this issue will be resolved. The reason is that these corporate types are capital intensive and you must give the AI the needed capital.

Totally agree. When playing as a holding company, I like to have several "pure play" subsidiaries. Also, when I buy another company, I should be able to carve out the relevant parts and merge them with an existing subsidiary. Currently, when I do that, I have to transfer each firm individually--can take forever later in a game.
