Multiple floors for factories/farms and R&D
I think it shouldnt be hard to implement multiple floors for every building in game, since its already implemented for stores. What do you think?

Re: Multiple floors for factories/farms and R&D
I like the ideas of having multiple floors for factories. As entering into the late game, my city with lowest wage always kinda run out of lands as all the companies build factories there.
To simplify the complexity in terms of supply chain, other than creating a new blank layout when pressing the "+" button, I'm thinking to make it copy the config of the first floor so it will produce the exact same goods. So what you end up is just improve the capacity other than making different goods from same factory

That might be good option, but sometimes, even mostly at least me, would use to add different products on different floors. for example i would like to produce car body on one floor, tires and engines on second and cars on 3th, or in case of farm, milk on first, frozen beaf on second, and leather on 3th.

I think multiple floors is most important for factories and warehouses.
Right now, a warehouse can house, if used an inventory unit for each product can house a maximum of three products. In many cases, since each factory needs its own input for the warehouse, you have a warehouse dedicated to one product!
The factory? Please, multi-floor factories. There is only so much space in each city. Obviously, the Real World Mod magnifies the space limitation. That is what happens when an immensely popular mod helps to sell the game!

It would unnecessarily complicate the user interface and introduce new gameplay balance and AI issues.
For me, I will just build more factories/farms/R&D centers when I need them. It never ran out of space in cities for building new factories. Even if this is an issue, it can be mitigated by starting a game with more cities when using the RealWorld Mod, or building a new city in an existing game.

Re: Multiple floors for factories/farms and R&D
Complicate the user interface in the same way the devs complicated the user interface for retails stores by adding three additional buttons to represent a floor? Introduce the the same game balance issues that were introduced with multi-floor retail stores? Seriously? It would unnecessarily complicate the user interface and introduce new gameplay balance and AI issues.

I use the RealWorld Mod and a script to use 10 cities. The fact is that factories, farms and warehouses take a up a lot space even when you attempt to min/max it. Imagine the amount of retail stores you would need for the RealWorld Mod WITHOUT the multi-floor system. In Bdubbs' Gas Gaint post, he showed the folly of not using the using the feature while trying to meet high demand for gasoline products. For me, I will just build more factories/farms/R&D centers when I need them. Re: Multiple floors for factories/farms and R&D
Its already implemented, its only the matter of transfering the feature to other/all buildings, interface so to speak is already "complicated" from it, and just 3 more "+" icons isnt such a complication imo, also the code for gameplay ballance and AI, should also be implemented ... and its kind of placing 3 buildings on top of each another, i cant think of any balance or AI issuses, other then make AI "know" to add floors instead of building new factorys or whatever.leveragedbuyout wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 3:01 am It would unnecessarily complicate the user interface and introduce new gameplay balance and AI issues.

Re: Multiple floors for factories/farms and R&D
For Vanila game isnt much need to be honest, tho if every other building get it, i dont see why not, on the other hand if you play something like Real World Mod, and you have to place over 100 farms just to cover every single product it have a reason. And even bigger reason for factories. If i play single city, 80% of map will be covered only from me to cover all products, leaving no space for competition or inhabitants. And later in game, single factory producing computers for example is not enough to suply demand, add multiple computer stores to the picture. And i think it should be more easy implementing this and even save some of city space with multiple floors of farms, then trying to implement bigger models for maps and such. For Vanila game it still might be ok, but if game is moded, for sure space is not enough
