Well the game as it is now would just need multiplayer code to be done I guess. If it is a lot or not I guess devs would know. I guess it is quite possible to do that. As i noticed there are made polls for ideas, why won't you try and make one?
On the other hand, when I started to think about, capitalism multiplayer game, and how it should work, my imagination start to run wild

.....
Imagine game that would happen in real time, played kind of like for example Ogame or Travian but more like, hmm, the settlers online, with in game interface more like Capitalism Lab (just much more user friendly

) Where one nation is five cities in each city start five players.... imagine you got 25 nations plus another 150 simulated nations. When game get enough popularity with each reset more nation would be human run and less simulated. Obviously whole game would need to be re-balanced and remodeled.
all numbers are just for imaginary purpose as obviously that concept firstly would need weeks of concept working. But well, what can I do, I just love to create those things, can't help
.
Imagine how many roles and possibility of game play that would allow. I will use strawberry as an example of how one product could be used by different players.
Firstly obviously you can farm it. You can sell it to the city as like natural simulated demand or to another player in the city for manufacturing purpose. Or you can sell it into national commodity market where other players can import and either sell it to the city or to use in factories. you made some money, borrowed even more. Invested into another farms, national demand is to low so you are going into international market and start selling it there.... but something happened, strawberries prices falling down, in your country, to barely being worth to farm them and you also got interest to pay back.
here is another point of view....
you are businessman with already very profitable yogurt and ice cream factories and own shops and brands and thinking to become speculator. you have got couple of warehouses. you can see a fragile business who irresponsible trying to expand (strawberries farmer). so you thinking about creating a bubble (who never wanted to create speculative bubble??!!!). Buying up excessive amount of strawberries(also paying media companies for price rise articles), use some for product rest you keep hidden in warehouses for later on. you can see farmer has take credit and invested in new farms, in excessive amount. you starting to sell strawberries on commodity exchange (also paying media companies for price declining articles) at production cost price. Poor farmer can not keep with payments so bank foreclosure one's farms, and you just want to buy it, going to bank (who can be another player as well) and being denied credit as your business is not profitable, wait what?!
because here come another player...
who focused on retail sales and decided to rid you off the market by importing way cheaper ice creams and yogurts. Do you remember bubble and then unintended consequences (strawberries shortage), as farm been foreclosed, ups you got excited and forget about running your main business, you did not buy any strawberries and sold most of yours, your production halted, generating only costs.
now another player, decided to run news paper, earn money on ads plus subscription fees from other players...
apart from what been said already. you could go and check daily (what would be for example a month in game time) each single map of each city and put into your newspaper, new opening and closing strawberries farms. (a little miscount for a fee

) ....
so other player would not to bother with this time consuming activity.... whoops someone noticed that you lied about cattle farms, your subscriptions and ads going down. Creating empty space for competition, damn!
I am just starting here to be honest.... I did not mention yet randomly generated events that slightly or deeply influence farming etc. Randomly generated other natural resources. researches, running city, running country, stock exchange (with shorting possibility), futures contracts.... well basically all other features that are in game, imagine how many roles those create, but I do not want to compose an essay here.
