Hi,
I'm running the Capitalism v6.5.11 on Windows 10 on a 5120 x 2880 display (w/AMD Radeon graphics card).
I wonder if the app is ready for such high resolution, yet.
I tried both the Full Screen Mode and the Borderless Windowed Mode, but when I pressed APPLY button the first one locked my computer and the second one stayed with a small window size.
Is it possible to run the app on such High Res displays?
Thanks in advance,
Cima

Re: Not ready for High Res displays?
You may try the following solutions:
1) Right-click on the Capitalism Lab icon to open the properties window.
2) Select the “Compatibility” tab of the properties window.
3) Click the [Change high DPI settings] button.
4) On the page for changing the high DPI settings, check "Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by:" and select "Application".
Note that you should keep the default settings for other options (do NOT set compatibility mode and do NOT "run as administrator").

Re: Not ready for High Res displays?
David,
Thanks for your quick support!
After following your instructions, I could run the app with 3840 x 2160, which was the max resolution in the menu, with Full Screen Mode.
That is acceptable condition for me.
Borderless Windowed Mode seems unchanged and remained in a small window whose size is unchangeable.
That is very different when compared with other PC games I have.

Re: Not ready for High Res displays?
It is not, IMHO.
I have two monitors, one with 3840x2160 and the second one with 1920*1080.
Alone starting the capitalism.exe ruins my screen resolutions and sets one (mostly the main one) to 640x480! Are you kidding?
Resetting the screen to a reasonable resolutions where you finally can see and reach something crashes the game.
David's solution does not help, as the "Override DPI Scaling.." is greyed out and seems as it is already set that way.
The problem with the resolutions exists for many years now and never been solved. The GUI is totally outdated and maybe interesting for historical reasons, for me, the game isn't playable since years.
So, today I decided to cancel all my subscriptions for newsletters etc, and eventually I will completely remove the game.

Re: Not ready for High Res displays?
I'm confused - why would a ridiculously high resolution be a pre-requisite for a business simulation ? This game is about substance, not style, and its actually a throwback to a simpler time, where great games were just great games regardless of their graphical capabilities. Most games nowadays are so concerned with style they forget that at the core of it they need to deliver as games - this one does that in spades !titule wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 2:44 pm It is not, IMHO.

In any event, your problem seems to be that you have an issue with the capabilities the game DOES provide, because my 1920x1080 fullscreen works flawlessly and I believe that's the case for the large majority on here. Unfortunately, some peoples rigs are just not built to handle certain things and it can be very much the luck of the draw sometimes. Personally I don't mind the GUI, it works, its familiar and isn't too cluttered....where is the downside to that ?
The one difference you will find here vs the big publishers is that generally they will try and help everyone - I've never seen a community so actively sending savegames to a developer to have a look and who then immediately releases a patch to fix that one persons problem.....that counts for a lot !
Ultimately, if the game will not run for you in a decent resolution then that is a problem with your setup and the software not getting on and it seems to be a fairly isolated case. if I read your other posts correctly, then I suspect you are a victim of window 10's inability to run multiple monitors properly and that's hardly Enlights fault. I don't know if you've tried this, but it sounds to me as though you need to switch your smaller monitor to primary (or "1" in the split/multiple screen interface) and then the game should automatically default to that one when it starts, which based on what you wrote should be capable of handling the resolution you want. Either way my guess is the solution can be found in your screens setup and windows 10 is unfortunately a pain if you need to do anything differently to the norm.

what if you have an Ultrawide display? Anyway, I can at least get 1920x1080 on a window? BTW, I am 2560x1080 34 inch Ultrawide

You're confused. It's not ridiculously high and not a pre-requisite. Read my post again.saffgee wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 9:53 pmI'm confused - why would a ridiculously high resolution be a pre-requisite for a business simulation ? [/url]titule wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 2:44 pm It is not, IMHO.

I complain because it always switches to 640x480, which is ridiculously low, and crashes.
Also, David's solution is not working.. the game is unplayable.

Re: Not ready for High Res displays?
Well you certainly didn't read the rest of my post otherwise you would know that my point is that your attitude towards this is somehow that the game is at fault and its outdated and crap (expressed most succinctly by the words "are you kidding?") and that because of that you are going to throw every single one of your toys out of the pram and stomp off in a huff.....
The gentleperson whose thread this was in the first place was the one who suggested we should have higher resolutions available for this game and others chimed in, so my opening comment was aimed at the thread in total, not just you (so as not to derail).
So yeah I am confused; confused why you think its ok to come with all the attitude and then try and make it seem as though you are the reasonable one. I get your frustration, but your closing sentence is incorrect - it should read: "the game is unplayable for me", because it clearly works for everyone else. If you can manage to clam down a bit, maybe someone will help you.
