I know this is a mechanic that impairs player's game experience in some situations. But isn't it awarding for players to be challenged with this kind of problems, struggle to minimize the damage to the company and even finally exceeds AI opponent by taking advantage of the effect inflicted on the market?
I came up with this idea recently after witnessing the great destruction brought to the world by the corona virus as well as plenty of opportunities. Here are some examples that are easy to discover and understand:
During the fight against corona virus in China before May 2020, almost all factories, retail stores, restaurants, supermarkets, schools, universities (basically any place that aggregates people) were shut down. Everyone was forced to stay home, money was not flowing.
The consequence: many companies went bankrupt, people were incapable of paying house installments because they weren't allowed to work.
The star companies in the shadow: Game companies gained much more profit because people had nothing else to do but play games; Online educational software companies have never had so many users because students had to take online courses to keep up with their education plan. Package Delivery Service companies were the only option for citizens who wanted special supply because local stores were closed and they couldn't go anywhere.
Opportunities in Stock Market: Ever since the climax of the breakout at the end of March when most companies fell to the lowest point of the past few years, many companies (especially medical companies) have been recovering from the apocalypse little by little. To my surprise their share price was ascending all the way into July and even reached a point that's never been reached before.
In the past 2 weeks, flood emerged in many areas of China and our government was gathering resources to minimize the destruction. Guess what? The share price of mining companies increased because of insufficient mine supply. I made some money unexpectedly too.
There is a random events feature in the game. I'm not sure if it is on the scale of a worldwide pandemic or natural disaster. I haven't played with the feature on in a long time as I like to just build my business empire without the headaches random events other than the economic ups and downs
