The greatest gift my parents gave me: poverty

Post by AgataChr »

I would like to start with $10 or $20,000 as initial capital instead of all those millions.

Does anyone know how to do that?

Please see: https://www.capitalismlab.com/scripts/s ... vironment/

Script – Environment
[ENVIRONMENT]
Your Start-up Capital=<Very Low, Low, Moderate, High, Very High>

If you prefer to customize the exact amount of start-up capital for your company, you may use the following line instead:
Your Start-up Capital Amount=<1 to 10000> ($1 to $10000 million)

You can set it to $1 million, then couple it with the following bond setting to make your net worth even less.

There is a setting called “Percentage of Player Capital Funded by Bond” setting in the Banking and Finance DLC.

Here is its description:

Percentage of Player Capital Funded by Bond
If you are an experienced player looking for greater challenge, you may set a percentage of your corporation’s initial capital to be funded by a bond issue, requiring you to pay bond interests and repay the bond principal upon its maturity.

You may set it to a higher value to have your company heavily leveraged in debt in the very beginning, significantly increasing the game’s difficulty. Some players commented that it is virtually impossible to win if this setting is set to the maximum value. So I would recommend setting it to a moderate value to begin with.

If you set it to 80% and also set your company’s Start-up Capital to Very Low, the game is going to be extremely challenging.

Here is the link to the Banking and Finance DLC web site that describes all its features: https://www.capitalismlab.com/banking-dlc/ The aforementioned setting is described on the page “New Game Settings of Banking and Finance DLC”

Thank you, David.
How come I do not have the "Load script" button?

So, the script in my case should look like
[HEADER]
Title=Less money
Description=Start with $20,000.

[ENVIRONMENT]
//Your Start-up Capital Amount=<20,000>

Correct?

The important line is commented out and the part after = is still within brackets. Change the line

//Your Start-up Capital Amount=<20,000>

to

Your Start-up Capital Amount=20000

For more information of the syntax, se https://www.capitalismlab.com/scripts/s ... vironment/

EDIT: The value is in millions of dollars så 20000 will give you $20,000,000,000. The lowest strtup capital you can get is $1,000,000. As a work-around, you might start-off with buying something worthless like a mansion, and invest no more than like $20,000 your future empire.

Thank you for your suggestions.
I set the value to 1 and I start from $500,000.
