Making a poll as it seems that with forum support that David might have more leverage with the developers to try to add features to the game.
My suggestion is simple,
Allow the player to either name each business that he sets up what he wants, OR
Have the game auto name each business with a simple naming scheme like Factory 1, Factory 2, or Silver Mine 1, Silver Mine 2 , Warehouse 1, Warehouse 2 etc.
The reason for this suggestion is not that I want to be able to name my factory "Big Al's factory of Toys" but rather when I'm looking to link to my factories or mines etc the only thing that we have to go on I believe is the price to see where something is coming from. By every business having either a name that we can input (in my case, I really would just name them as Factory 1, Factory 2 etc) we can quickly look to see where we are buying something from and it makes it (for me anyway) a ton easier than having to jump back and forth to make sure that I'm buying from or getting from the place that I want it to come from.
So maybe you can answer by choosing one of the poll options listed above if you have the time.
Thanks

Re: [Poll] Suggest: Naming the businesses
I vote for the first option.
The reason is this: I have Factory1, Factory2, Factory3.... And i merge with other corporations, who had factories. So now i got 2 Factory1, 2 Factory2, 2 Factory3... and so on... Or if i just buy competitors' factory?
User naming the firms is easy thing, the question is "How the AI would name them?"
Also - if i buy resursses from Mine1 (gold) and use them in Factory1, then i change purchases to Mine1 (silver) - one of the competitors' mine, with the same name?
I can add smthng for the factories - when set a new one, a dialog box can ask me, what i'll do with the factory (so i can choose Automobile factory or Food Factory or Drug Factory) - this can help if i get lost in 40-50 factories... and can be optional.

Re: [Poll] Suggest: Naming the businesses
If I could change my vote to option one I would lol.
Yeah it actually makes more sense for me to just name my own businesses since I wouldn't really need to have them all named individually, only the ones that I need to deal with. For example, I don't necessarily need to name every retail shop, but I do feel the need to name every factory, mine, warehouse and the like so that I know which one I'm buying from or moving products through etc.
But hell, I'll take whatever Enlight can do towards this, either way.

Re: [Poll] Suggest: Naming the businesses
I would like the player naming as well. As long as it's optional at least.
Sometimes you have a network set up that would make things easier if you just could name 1 or 2 firms as "Main production" or something like that, so you can more easily identify them.
Most of the time you will probably not use it anyway, and it would be overkill to have to name every firm you set up.

What if the player destroy a firm and builds a new one of the same type afterwards? How would you see the naming work?Have the game auto name each business with a simple naming scheme like Factory 1, Factory 2, or Silver Mine 1, Silver Mine 2 , Warehouse 1, Warehouse 2 etc.

Well if it were that the game would have to name the businesses instead of the player then I could see the game simply naming the businesses with a random number such as Factory 8737 and the game would deal with making sure that there are no duplicate names, because really... any individual name for the business is better than having everything of the same type all named the same.
But really as others pointed out, it would be better to allow the player to name those businesses that he feels needs to be named since at the moment I don't really feel that I need to name every single retail shop, but I do with factories, warehouses, mines and the like.
